  1. Sir Richard Steele (1672¬≠1729) was an English statesman and a publisher 
  2. of periodicals, the most renowned being The Spectator  (1711). He also 
  3. contributed heavily to his journals and was a playwright. His writing 
  4. made him well-known in both literary and political circles. In fact, his 
  5. pamphlet The Crisis  got him temporarily expelled from Parliament. His 
  6. other journals included The Tatler, TheGuardian  and The Englishman .
